About the Going Global Partnerships TVET Grant Call 2026
Going Global Partnerships supports stronger and more inclusive higher education and technical and vocational education and training systems. It promotes international collaboration, institutional development, improved learning outcomes, and knowledge exchange.
Through the 2026 TVET grant call, the British Council invites eligible UK organisations to develop International Skills Partnerships with selected institutions overseas. These partnerships should respond to specific TVET priorities while supporting mutual learning between UK and international partners.
The British Council has announced seven opportunities across five countries. Each partnership will run for 15 months from November 2026, including planning and reporting periods. British Council teams in the UK and the relevant partner country will provide advice and support throughout implementation.

Egypt: Accreditation Body Capacity Strengthening

Grant Value: £25,000
This partnership will connect a UK-based skills organisation with the Egyptian TVET for Quality Assurance and Accreditation Authority, known as ETQAAN.
The work will focus on sharing UK experience in accreditation and quality assurance. It will also support the development and testing of a training curriculum for internal and external TVET accreditors.
Egypt: Quality Assurance for TVET Providers

Grant Value: £25,000
The selected UK organisation will collaborate with an Egyptian technical institute. The partnership will strengthen internal quality-assurance processes and support alignment with newly published national standards.
Activities may include mentorship, training, webinars, reciprocal study visits, data-collection practices, and monitoring and evaluation support.
Ghana: Automotive Engineering Workforce Development

Grant Value: £30,000
This opportunity focuses on employer engagement, automotive engineering, curriculum development, clean-energy technologies, sustainability, and professional development for teachers and trainers.
The UK organisation will work with Ghana’s Automotive Sector Skills Body and other TVET stakeholders. The partnership should help align training with current and emerging workforce requirements.
Malawi: Employer Engagement and Advanced Manufacturing

Grant Value: £25,000
The Malawi opportunity focuses on advanced manufacturing, agri-technology, clean energy, curriculum development, teacher training, employer engagement, and institutional capacity.
The UK partner will work with the Ministry of Labour, Skills and Innovation and relevant TVET stakeholders. Proposed activities may include workshops, mentoring, study visits, curriculum review, and professional development.
Morocco: Skills for Global Event Delivery

Grant Value: Two grants of £25,000
Two partnership opportunities are available in Morocco. They focus on developing industry-relevant skills connected to sustainable tourism, hospitality, food and beverages, transport and logistics, events, and sports management.
The partnerships are expected to identify skills gaps and support TVET institutions through UK knowledge-sharing, webinars, and reciprocal visits.
Uganda: Agricultural Workforce Development

Grant Value: £30,000
The Uganda partnership focuses on agriculture, agri-technology, employer engagement, curriculum development, teacher development, and TVET systems strengthening.
The selected UK organisation will collaborate with Rwentanga Agricultural College, Rwampara Farm Institute, Kitagata Farm Institute, and other relevant stakeholders in Western Uganda.

Who Can Apply?
Each proposal must be led by one eligible UK Lead Institution.
The Lead Institution must be one of the following:
• A further education college included in the recognised list of UK colleges
• An independent training provider listed on the UK Register of Learning Providers
• A membership organisation with a role in the TVET or further education system
• A sector skills organisation
• An awarding body
The applying Lead Institution and any Associate Partners must be based in the United Kingdom. International partners have already been identified through the British Council and will be introduced to successful UK applicants following selection and contracting.
Eligible Associate Partners
A proposal may include Associate Partners that contribute relevant expertise or institutional capacity.
Eligible Associate Partners may include:
• Employer organisations and industry bodies
• Education organisations
• Charities and foundations
• Membership bodies
• Public or private organisations with a role in TVET or further education
• Non-governmental organisations
• Government organisations
• Civil society and social enterprise organisations
• Universities
There is no fixed limit on the number of Associate Partners. However, applicants should clearly explain the contribution of each partner and demonstrate their ability to manage the proposed partnership.
For-profit education providers cannot act as the Lead Institution. They may participate as Associate Partners, but grant funding may cover only their travel-related costs.
Number of Applications
A Lead Institution may submit up to three applications under this call. It must identify the priority order of those applications.
Lead Institutions would ordinarily receive no more than two grants. However, the British Council may award a third grant in exceptional circumstances. An institution acting as an Associate Partner in another application does not count toward the three-application limit.
Grant Funding and Budget Rules
Seven partnership grants worth between £25,000 and £30,000 are expected to be awarded.
Funding will be transferred to the successful UK Lead Institution after the Grant Agreement has been signed. The Lead Institution will act as the Contracting Institution and will manage the budget, including transfers to overseas partners.
Matching funding and in-kind contributions are encouraged but are not mandatory.
The following budget limits apply:
• Staff costs may represent no more than 30% of the grant.
• External expertise costs may represent no more than 20% of the grant.
• International travel and subsistence may represent no more than 20% of the grant.
• For-profit Associate Partners may receive funding only for travel-related expenses.
No detailed budget plan is required during the initial application process. However, applicants must develop a realistic proposal that can be delivered within the available grant and programme period.

Confirmed eligible expenses may include:

✓ Training events, meetings, workshops, and seminars

✓ Online platforms and digital delivery
✓ Monitoring and evaluation expenses
✓ Attendance at events to present project results

Required Application Materials
Applicants must prepare and submit the following materials:
• Completed online application form
• Supporting documents written in English
• Supporting letter from the UK Lead Institution
• Curriculum vitae of the Lead Applicant
• Associate Partner letters, when relevant
• Required institutional confirmations
The supporting letter must be written on official headed paper. It must be signed by the Head of Department or another person with appropriate delegated authority.
The letter must confirm the institution’s commitment to the project. It cannot be signed by the Lead Applicant.
How to Submit an Application
Applications must be completed through the Going Global Partnerships Good Grants Platform.
Applicants should:
• Create or access an account on the application portal.
• Start the form titled Going Global Partnerships – TVET – Multi-Country ISPs 2026.
• Select the relevant partnership opportunity under the category question.
• Complete the application and supporting documents in English.
• Upload the required institutional letter and Lead Applicant’s CV.
• Upload Associate Partner letters where applicable.
• Review the pre-submission confirmations.
• Submit the application before the deadline.
Institutions applying for more than one opportunity must begin a separate application form for each proposed partnership. Applications received after the deadline will be considered ineligible.
Selection Process
Applications submitted before the deadline will first be checked for completeness and eligibility. Incomplete applications may be excluded before the assessment stage.
Eligible applications will then be reviewed by a panel of subject experts.
The principal assessment areas are:
• Organisational experience and capacity: 40%
• Project approach: 50%
• Finance and budget management: 10%
The assessment will examine the institution’s TVET expertise, international partnership capacity, proposed objectives, project activities, sustainability, equitable partnership approach, and ability to manage funding across multiple organisations.
Applications must also address gender equality, equality, diversity and inclusion, environmental impact, ethics, health and safety, and the project’s relevance to economic development and social welfare.
The gender equality statement is assessed during the eligibility screening stage. Applications may be rejected when gender equality has not been meaningfully considered or when the project may have a negative gender impact.
