The GCUB International Mobility Program Scholarships 2026 provide opportunities for international students seeking graduate-level study in Brazil. Under the fifth edition of GCUB-Mob, 62 Brazilian universities will offer 539 scholarships for master’s programmes and 350 scholarships for doctoral programmes starting in 2027.

GCUB International Mobility Program Scholarships
GCUB-Mob is promoted by the International Cooperation Group of Brazilian Universities. The programme aims to support students from the five continents who want to complete postgraduate studies at Brazilian higher education institutions.
The initiative also receives support from the Guimarães Rosa Institute of the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Organization of American States, the National Council of State Research Funding Agencies, the Union of Universities of Latin America and the Caribbean, and the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie.
Available Study Options
Applicants may choose master’s or doctoral programmes offered by participating Brazilian institutions. Each person may indicate up to four programmes at different universities.
The expected study duration is:
• Up to 24 months for a master’s degree
• Up to 48 months for a doctoral degree
Academic programmes will begin in 2027. The specific starting date depends on the calendar of the host institution.
Financial Support and University Access
The GCUB International Mobility Program Scholarships include:
✓ Exemption from academic fees for the selected programme
✓ Monthly stipend payments during the regular period of study
✓ Access to university restaurants, if available, under the conditions applied to other students
✓ Access to classes, laboratories, libraries, study rooms, and other university services
The host institution manages the monthly stipend. Master’s recipients may receive payments for up to 24 months. Doctoral recipients may receive payments for up to 48 months.
Expenses Not Included
Selected candidates remain responsible for costs that are not expressly covered by the programme. These include airfare, visa costs, international health insurance, document legalization, personal expenses, and additional living expenses.
Candidates should also be able to support themselves financially between their arrival in Brazil and the payment of the first monthly stipend.
Who Can Apply?
Candidates must:
• Be citizens of a country with diplomatic relations with Brazil.
• Not have Brazilian nationality.
• Declare that they are in good physical and mental health for graduate studies.
• Be able to pay additional expenses before the scholarship payments begin.
• Present an undergraduate diploma or an accepted equivalent document.
• Comply with the language requirements of each selected academic programme.
Applicants may complete their submissions in Portuguese, English, Spanish, or French.
Candidates applying for a doctorate must verify whether a master’s degree is required by the chosen programme.

Applications must be submitted online. Documents should be uploaded in PDF format.
The application file must include:
• An identity document, passport, or national identity document
• A Curriculum Vitae
• An undergraduate diploma, certificate of completion, or official document confirming completion status and the expected completion date
• A master’s diploma or certificate for doctoral applications, if requested by the chosen programme
• Proof of higher education institution affiliation for professors
Each candidate must prepare two texts for every programme selected:
• A statement of academic expectations, interests, and professional plans for returning to the country of origin, limited to 1,000 words
• A research proposal of no more than 4,000 words
Online Application Rules
The GCUB-Mob application is free and individual. Candidates must use the official online form.
Applicants may select up to four programmes at different institutions. However, each candidate must submit only one application. Multiple applications from the same person will be removed from the system and will result in disqualification.
Evaluation Timeline
The GCUB-Mob selection procedure includes three mandatory phases:
• Document Consistency Analysis: 13–31 July 2026
• Merit and Eligibility Analysis: 10 August–8 September 2026
• Final Classification: 13–16 October 2026
Participating universities will confirm the selected candidates from 26 to 30 October 2026. The final results are scheduled for publication on 9 November 2026.
