The Government of the Czech Republic offers scholarships for the 2027/2028 academic year to eligible nationals from specified developing and third countries. The scholarships support full-time study at public higher education institutions in the Czech Republic. Applications are accepted from 21 August until 30 September 2026.

About the Czech Republic Government Scholarships
The scholarships form part of the Czech Republic’s foreign development cooperation programme. They are intended to support eligible foreign nationals studying at Czech public universities.
The programme is jointly pursued by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with cooperation from the Ministry of Health.

Eligible Countries
Government scholarships for the 2027/2028 academic year are offered only to citizens of the following countries:
• Bosnia and Herzegovina
• Georgia
• Ukraine
• Belarus (democratic forces)
• Ethiopia
• Gabon
• Mauritania
• Zambia
• Bangladesh
• Cambodia
• Palestine
• Guatemala
• Honduras
Study Programmes in the Czech Language
The Czech-language route is available for applicants from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Ukraine and Belarus. It supports selected two-year follow-up Master’s programmes.
This study route is preceded by a one-year Czech-language preparatory course provided by the Institute for Language and Preparatory Studies of Charles University. The preparatory course forms part of the scholarship.
Study Programmes in English
Applicants from all countries listed as eligible may apply for selected programmes taught in English. Available study routes include:

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the academic requirements connected with their chosen study level.
• Applicants for a follow-up Master’s programme must have completed a Bachelor’s study programme.
• Applicants for a Doctoral programme must have completed a Master’s study programme.
• Applicants seeking a scholarship for English-medium study must complete an online English-language entrance test during the application process.
• Czech citizens cannot apply.
• Citizens of European Union countries cannot apply.
• Foreign nationals holding a permanent residence permit in the Czech Republic cannot apply.
The official page also states that there is no legal entitlement to receive a scholarship.
Application Requirements and Submission
Each applicant may register only once and submit one application. The electronic application must be completed by the stated deadline.
The application becomes complete after the applicant fills in the motivation letter and completes the required tests. Applicants following the Czech-language route complete the general study prerequisites test. Applicants applying for English-language study must also complete the English test.
Successful applicants will begin their studies during the 2027/2028 academic year.
