Roche Scholarship 2026 has been launched for young leaders in the NHS who are advancing sustainable innovation or health equity. Through this scholarship, One Young World and Roche will support 3 outstanding professionals working in the NHS to attend the One Young World Summit 2026 in Cape Town, South Africa, scheduled for 3 to 6 November 2026.
Program Background
The official scholarship page explains that Roche UK invests in transformative medicines and tests aimed at improving lives in the UK. It also states that Roche works collaboratively with NHS organisations across the United Kingdom and recognises the connection between planetary and human health. The page adds that Roche is committed to reaching Net Zero emissions globally by 2045 and reducing by half the environmental impacts of its products and operations.
Focus of the Scholarship
This scholarship is designed for young leaders in the NHS who can demonstrate a commitment to sustainable innovation in healthcare. The examples listed on the page include addressing the causes and effects of health inequalities, creating or applying innovative methods of treatment or diagnosis to improve the patient care pathway, and lowering emissions or burdens on natural resources, including through the decarbonisation of healthcare supply chains.
What Scholars Receive
Successful applicants will receive access to the One Young World Summit 2026 in Cape Town. The scholarship also includes private room hotel accommodation in Cape Town from 2 to 6 November 2026 inclusive, economy-class travel costs to and from Cape Town, meals including breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided by the hotel and during the Summit, and transportation costs between the airport and hotel via public transport. The page clearly notes that scholars are responsible for booking their own flights and will then be reimbursed.
Candidate Criteria
To apply, candidates must be 18 to 35 years old at the time of the One Young World Summit 2026. Applicants of any nationality may apply, but they must be based in the United Kingdom and must hold a role in the NHS or in an organisation working in partnership with the NHS. In addition, applicants should show an understanding of key local and or global issues, a track record of generating impactful and innovative solutions, and a demonstrated commitment to sustainable innovation in healthcare. The page also states that applicants who will be under 18 at the time of the Summit are not eligible.
