About the UniSQ International Stipend and Fee Research Scholarship 2027
UniSQ offers the scholarship to international students who are studying or commencing a PhD in 2027. Applications are accepted across research areas, but proposed research should align with UniSQ’s flagship areas.
Applicants should discuss the flagship area most closely connected to their proposed research with a potential supervisor. They must then select that flagship area in the scholarship application system.
The stipend and fee components are submitted through a single application and are not awarded separately.
Scholarship Value and Financial Support
The scholarship provides two principal forms of financial support.
✓ AUD $39,000 stipend per annum
✓ Tuition fees paid by UniSQ for a maximum of three years of full-time equivalent study
Any period of study already completed toward the degree will be deducted from the scholarship period.

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must satisfy all eligibility conditions stated by UniSQ.
• Hold a Bachelor Degree with First Class Honours or an equivalent qualification.
• Be eligible to enrol full-time and on campus in the UniSQ PhD programme.
• Be an international student.
• Not be an Australian citizen, New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident.
• Commence or continue study in 2027.
Admission to the Doctor of Philosophy is a separate process. Applicants must have started the PhD admission process to be eligible for the scholarship.
Optional Industry Stream
Each flagship scholarship offers an optional Industry Stream. This pathway includes a mandatory 60-day industry internship.
Applicants and their prospective supervisors are responsible for identifying an industry partner. The industry partner must complete a Letter of Support.
For continuing students applying through the Industry Stream:
• Full-time students must be within 18 months of commencing their studies.
• Part-time students must be within 36 months of commencing their studies.
• Required contractual agreements must be completed before the student begins the programme if the scholarship is awarded through this stream.

Selection Criteria
UniSQ assesses scholarship applicants across four main areas.
• Academic achievement: including honours classification or equivalent, postgraduate performance, academic prizes and awards.
• Research capability: including research publications, conference presentations, research internship experience and relevant creative works where applicable.
• Research project and environment: including alignment with UniSQ research priorities, research relevance, external support, anticipated impact and required resources.
• Supervisory team: including publication records, complementary expertise, supervisor capacity and available research support.

• Statement of Claim completed by the student and supervisor
• Curriculum vitae, including research publications and/or presentations
• Preliminary Research Thesis Topic Proposal
• Documentation confirming citizenship
• Testamurs and academic transcripts for undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications
Applicants selecting the Industry Stream must also provide the required Letter of Support completed by the industry partner.
