About the Allianz Climate Risk Award 2026
Launched in 2017, the Allianz Climate Risk Award supports scientific research that improves understanding of climate-related risks. The 2026 programme marks the award’s tenth anniversary.
The award connects climate researchers with the insurance industry. It aims to move research from scientific analysis toward practical approaches that strengthen resilience against climate-related risks.
Research Focus
Eligible research must address the relationship between climate change and extreme weather events. It may also examine technology-based approaches to improving resilience.
The official programme identifies two primary research areas:
• Understanding and mitigating extreme weather risks intensified by climate change
• Strengthening resilience through technological solutions
Applicants should present research that contributes to understanding how climate change shapes physical risks and how communities, economies, or systems can respond effectively.
