The programme includes regular meetups in San Francisco. During the batch, each company works with a dedicated YC General Partner and joins a smaller group of companies within the larger batch.

What Accepted Companies Receive
Accepted companies receive investment and access to YC’s founder-focused programme structure.
Confirmed support includes:

YC states that it invests in companies as soon as they are accepted and does not wait for the batch to start.
The YC Standard Deal
YC has a standard deal for every company accepted into Y Combinator. The official deal page states that YC invests $500,000.
The investment is structured through two separate safes:
• $125,000 on a post-money safe in return for 7% of the company
• $375,000 on an uncapped safe with a Most Favored Nation provision
The official page also states that YC does not charge fees to companies to be part of YC.

Who Can Apply?
YC’s application process is open to any startup, anywhere in the world. The official FAQ states that startups do not need to wait until they have more traction before applying.
YC funds companies at different stages. The official FAQ notes that many funded companies are at the earliest stage, including companies that are only an idea. It also states that YC can consider startups in any field.
Applicants should have a founding team and an idea they are excited about. Solo founders may also apply, although YC states that one-person startups are tough and that founders are more likely to succeed with a co-founder.
Application and Interview Process
Applicants must submit their application online. Companies that apply before the regular deadline will receive a decision by August 28.
If an application is promising, YC will invite the team to interview. Most interviews will be held by video conference in August and September. YC typically makes decisions on the same day as the interview and gives detailed feedback to everyone who interviews.

Batch Format in San Francisco
The Fall 2026 batch will take place in person in San Francisco. It includes a three-day kick-off and regular meetups.
During the batch, founders work with YC partners and connect with other startups in their group. YC also invites people from the startup world to speak during the programme.
