About Undergraduate Ellison Scholars 2027

The Undergraduate Ellison Scholars program connects Oxford undergraduate study with hands-on work at the Ellison Institute of Technology Oxford. Scholars study any discipline at the University of Oxford and also join EIT projects during the program.

EIT looks for academically excellent individuals who have already put their knowledge and passion into action. Moreover, scholars collaborate with other students and world-leading experts while working toward real-world solutions.

Internship Structure

Undergraduate Ellison Scholars complete internships at EIT during each long vacation between academic years. Each internship includes ten weeks at EIT.

Through these internships, scholars work with EIT teams on current projects. These projects focus on solving major global problems through the advancement and translation of science and technology.

• Food Security & Sustainable Agriculture
• Climate Change & Managing Atmospheric CO2
• Artificial Intelligence & Robotics

Candidate Profile

EIT states particular interest in students with skills in fields including:

• Computer science
• Artificial intelligence
• Economics
• Mathematics
• Robotics
• Plant sciences
• Machine learning
• Chemistry
• Biology
• Engineering
• Medicine
• Microbiology

In addition, EIT welcomes strong candidates who believe their skills can support one of its projects. The listed fields are not exhaustive.

Who Can Apply

Applicants must meet the University of Oxford entry requirements for the undergraduate course they choose. They must also meet the program’s selection criteria before starting the application.

• Applicants must have, or be on track to receive, a secondary education or high school leaving qualification, diploma, or certificate accepted by Oxford
• Applicants must meet, or be on track to meet, the minimum grade requirements for their chosen course
• Applicants must meet, or be on track to meet, Oxford’s English language requirements
• Applicants must meet the selection criteria for the Undergraduate Ellison Scholars program

Selection and Key Dates

The application process has a clear timeline. First, candidates apply during the May to July window. Then, semi-finalists continue through Oxford’s separate admissions process.

• Applications open: 1 May 2026
• Applications close: 31 July 2026
• Semi-finalists selected: September–October 2026
• Finalists identified: January–February 2027
• Scholars selected, onboarded, and announced: March–April 2027
• First academic year begins: October 2027

Semi-finalists who receive an offer from the University of Oxford automatically progress to the finalist stage. After the final selection process, Ellison Scholars are chosen from the finalist pool.
