The London Metropolitan University Sanctuary Scholarship 2026 provides financial and academic support to students who are unable to access higher education funding due to their immigration status. The London Metropolitan University Sanctuary Scholarship 2026 allows eligible applicants to pursue full-time study at undergraduate or postgraduate level in London.
The scholarship aims to reduce financial barriers for asylum seekers and individuals with protected or humanitarian immigration status.
Programme Purpose
This scholarship is intended for students who face challenges in accessing UK student finance. It enables them to study at London Met without tuition fee pressure while receiving additional financial and academic support.
Only two awards are available, making the selection process highly competitive.
What the Scholarship Covers
✓ Full tuition fee waiver for each year of study
✓ Maintenance grant equal to UK government maximum loan (£13,762 annually)
✓ Personal academic mentor for guidance and support
✓ Payments distributed in three instalments per academic year
In some cases, support may be provided in alternative forms depending on government aid conditions.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
• Apply for a full-time degree at London Metropolitan University
• Be an asylum seeker, or hold humanitarian protection or eligible limited leave status
• Include dependants or partners under qualifying asylum-related categories
• Have an active asylum claim in the UK
• Not be eligible for UK Student Finance due to immigration status
Application Procedure
Applicants are required to complete and submit the official scholarship form. All applications must be validated by the university before panel assessment.
Due to limited availability, only selected candidates will be contacted. Successful applicants are notified by 31 July 2026.
Scholarship Conditions
Continued funding depends on academic progression. Students do not need to reapply annually once awarded the scholarship.
