The fellowship is tenable in CSIR research laboratories and institutes in India for up to four years.
Eligibility for TWAS-CSIR Postdoctoral Fellowship 2026
• Applicants must be under 35 years of age by 31 December of the application year.
• They must be nationals of a developing country other than India.
• They must not hold a visa for temporary or permanent residency in India or any developed country.
• They must hold a Master’s degree in science and technology.
• They must be regularly employed in their home country and have a research assignment there.
• They must secure acceptance from a CSIR laboratory or institution and provide an official acceptance letter.
• They must show English proficiency if English was not the medium of education.
• They must confirm that they will return to their home country after the fellowship ends.
• They must not take up any other assignments during the fellowship period.
• They are financially responsible for any accompanying family members.
How to Apply
Applicants must submit their applications through the TWAS online portal. In addition, a copy of the submitted application must be sent to CSIR by email. The source also says that applicants should submit the acceptance letter from a CSIR institution when applying or by the deadline at the latest. Only one programme can be applied to within the TWAS and OWSD portfolio per calendar year.
Selection results should be available at the end of 2026 or early 2027. Therefore, applicants should prepare the acceptance letter early and follow the submission instructions carefully.
