The page also states that an internship can last from 3 to 6 months within one internship period. In addition, it says the Fall 2026 application round is open and that the published schedule is tentative and may change.
Who Is Eligible
OIST accepts applications from students in the last two years of a bachelor’s degree, students enrolled in any year of a master’s degree, and graduates with a bachelor’s or master’s degree. The page adds that applicants who will be in the final two years of a bachelor’s degree by the start of the proposed internship may also apply.

How to Apply
Applications are accepted online only. First, applicants must create an account. Then, they must upload all required documents in English as PDF files through the application website. OIST also notes that applicants can either finish the form in one sitting or save it and return later.

Fee Information
OIST charges a 3,000 JPY application fee for the Research Internship Program. According to the page, this fee is non-refundable, and no personal financial waivers are available.
